all black outfit with leather pants, booties and scarf

Currently feeling the gray and black color scheme. It evokes a type of emotion that so perfectly complements the current weather- cool, quite chill.

Here’s a list of my top faves!

sweater
leather pants
low booties
scarf
aviators

These pieces are now on rotation and part of my almost everyday routine. Adding layers with white basics (t-shirt or collared shirt), more blacks (dress and tights) and a great coat.

When in doubt: black on black on black, aka: all black everything.

My moods constantly changing so I’m sure to be wearing color, prints and textures coming soon.

Stay tuned.

Kiss.

Adoring this blouse by Line and Dot that JUST landed at Generation Bliss!
I’m all about the embroidered lace deets- something about it makes me feel a type of whimsical way.  Pairing my favorite leather pants and pointy toe pumps (similar here) adds a punch that changes the look from a peaceful wonder to a strident rock.  Enticing yet cool.
So, Fendi makes the most coveted bag charms to date.  I call them purse poms and am totally obsessed.  Though I can’t get my hands on one for the moment, I found this alternative that’s basically just as great- big, plush and amazing.  They are for special order at GB so holla and let a girl know it’s what you want 😉

One last thing- My amazing hair day is all thanks to Caley Elliott and D’amici Salon in LaGrange.

…unhappy band man not wanting to wear his band hat…

the marching band crew dressed for halloween

Halloween has to be one of the best celebrations around.  I mean, a day to dress up as whomever or whatever you want, why not?!  Though each year I look forward to this night, I still find myself scrimmaging for costumes at the very last minute.  And still, each year becomes a competition with the last. The year of the Mariachi band was where it all began. Hands down one of the most fun costumes to wear. Busting into parties playing accordions, banjos, maracas and tambourines- well, that can’t be beat.  This year though, was a close second…

It all started when my mom and sister decided to check out a local vintage shop. There, they discovered the marching bandleader hat, as I like to call it. With no intended use for it, they swooped it without hesitation, simply thinking it was cool…

On another shopping journey my sister and her friend randomly walked into Belmont Army vintage shop in Chicago. With no objective in mind and to their surprise they stumbled upon a section of band jackets from various high schools around town…

Exhibit A meets Exhibit B and voila! The marching band costume came to life.

As for all the other band hats, eBay to the rescue!

A very special thank you to Kelly from Smith Walbridge Band Products for being so awesome in the process of ordering our plumes. I discovered their website in hunt of feather plumes for our hats. Kelly was an amazing help in completing and delivering our order on time. If you’re ever in need of a plume, or any band product, Smith Walbridge is your shop.

Now what to be for next year?!

Stay tuned my loves.

PS. Apologizing for the not so greatest quality of photos.  That’s all I had to choose from and needed to share this costume idea with you!

PPS. How funny, the flute my sister is “playing” just happens to be my flute from 5th grade band. Amazing.

Seriously can’t stop raving about this black blouse. Can’t stop raving, can’t stop wearing. It’s comfortable as a sweater but with a chic layered twist- a magical hint for an everyday basic. Perfect to pair with leggings and boots, a pencil skirt and pumps or even shorts and sneakers in the spring! Watch me wear it all the ways. 🙂

On another note, what’s everyone dressing as for HALLOWEEN?!

I’ll keep you posted with pics from tonight’s festivities…

Happy Halloween!

Scarlet, crimson, currant…

50 shades of red and you have the most perfect palette for such a gray day. Every autumn I look forward to this- the changing of color and shedding of leaves. Its unceasing course of beauty brings familiarity with the season and for me, that holds the most value.

That, plus tall boots and pumpkin spice lattes of course.

It’s a match made, this plaid number from Generation Bliss and vintage Chanel. I’ve been waiting to debut this sweet pearl since the summer when I bought it. But because of its tweed-like furry texture, it needed to fall into cooler months before making its first appearance.

To sum it up- plaid and boots are your staples for fall.
